  • Choose a few products to integrate into your blog posts on your website. The products should coincide with the items you are promoting.
  • When you are happy with your product selection, click on the “Generate Link Button”. Amazon automatically embeds your affiliate link into to generated link. Click “Highlight Link” and then right click on your mouse to copy the highlighted link. Post the link inside your website. You can choose to post an image, an image and text or a text link, depending upon how you want it to look.
  • Look for creative ways to incorporate product recommendations into your website posts while still letting the reader know you are offering them expertise on your website subject.
  • Amazon Affiliate links, once clicked on by a potential buyer, are active for 24 hours. This means that they expire for that particular user after 24 hours. Fresh links means new chances to earn money.
  • As you add more posts and pages to your website you will add and build links to many different types of products over time. Amazon pays you an advertising percentage fee based on the entire purchase that the person makes, not just the product you advertised.
  • Advertise products over $100. The more expensive the product your reader buys, the more commission you will make, so make sure you recommend higher priced products with good value
  • Post seasonal content with Amazon Associate links. People buy more near Christmas, so post recommended products before Thanksgiving  or seasonal times to take advantage of sales that Amazon is going to make anyway These are just a few helpful tips to get your website monetized with Amazon.

I will be posting some other affiliate marketing companies to help you along the way. Keep coming back and leave a comment if this post has been helpful to you…Thanks John

  1. Fantastic guide on how to get started on Amazon! I quite enjoyed your use of pictures which makes the article much more enjoyable to read.

I do not live in the US, so the only payment option available for me is cheque or gift card. Do you think it’s safe if Amazon sends payments via cheque?

Hi Philip, thanks for your comments, I use pictures to make my posts interesting and give a bit of colour. Also easier for people to follow. I am one of those people. Visual seems to keep the attention.

I too can only receive payments by cheque. It’s a bit slower but has been fine for me so far. I imagine eventually they will user a better way.

Thanks for dropping by and I will be adding some other ways to monetize a website so you’re welcome back any time.

  2. Hey John, I was searching for ways to become an Amazon Associate when your blog pop up. I am very interested in this giant online retailer as they have so many products that I can leverage for my niche.

The problem is, I live out of the US and I couldn’t find any sources stating a country’s eligibility for application. I have seen some people in the Asian region promoting Amazon products, but I don’t know them personally.

Do you know what country can/can’t apply for the program? Thanks!

Hi Cathy, thanks for visiting my site.

Yes Amazon has many niche products for affiliate marketing and their main market is the US although the Asian region is growing as another great market place.

Amazon has set up stores in many countries including UK, Germany, France, Spain and China just to name a few, and to get benefits to market in each country you will need to register in each country and set up accounts in each country. Some will allow you to register and others will not allow you like India. This is a bit of a pain but that is the way the company is set up at the moment. Just to give an example, even though your account maybe say, set up in US, customers from Australia will still be able to purchase some items but additional costs through postage and handling may occur.

My suggestion is to register in each country that you are interested in marketing your products and then promote the products from that countries Amazon store. I have done the same for some of my websites.

I hope that has helped and feel free to contact me if you need additional info.

      Joh

  3. I am definitely trying to monetize my site with the amazon affiliate program. They seem to be one of the biggest well known brands that people love and trust as far as shopping is concerned.

One thing I am currently wondering is when it is appropriate to use text link, image link or both? I have been using image link for the most part.

Hi Jessie, thanks  for your comment. Answer to your question for me is it really depends in what context you are wanting to link the item you wish to promote or blog about. For myself, when I promote a product I like to  link an image of the product but also the item name that I am writing about in my article. But really it all depends on each an every person style and what they feel comfortable with. I am sure some people have their own ideas and that’s what makes the net interesting and different,

      John.
